WHAT IS A LEADER?

Vulnerability and authenticity are two buzzwords mentioned when it comes to leadership. Because everyone is trying to be "more authentic", I often get asked by clients “How much should I share as a leader?"

It starts with being a good listener and helping to find a solution. We are programmed to share our own experiences as a way to relate. However, you don't want to be that person who's just waiting to tell you their bigger and better story. No one likes that guy! And, that does not define a good leader!

A leader SHOULD share what their process was like in a particular situation when they're being asked for feedback or to create a resolution. This will help create more relatability and help others have a more empathetic perspective of who you are. Overall, a healthy balance of sharing is the key to being a leader.
