ABOUT JOE SCANLIN + SCANALYTICS

Led by a team of scientists, innovators, and engineers, Scanalytics Inc. leads the way in improving the built environment through a suite of internet-based tools. As a leading and award-winning Internet of Things and big-data company, we’ve pioneered the smart-flooring sensor, and along with our proprietary data and reporting capabilities help “future-proof” commercial environments such as convention centers, retail, healthcare, security and more, with a current focus on trade show environments. With over 80 million impressions to date, Scanalytics has deployed SoleSensors across North America, Europe, Southeast Asia and Australia.

Founded in 2012, it all began when founder Joe Scanlin was shopping at a retail store and became interested in the methodologies in which companies with a physical footprint could understand human behavior. “The orientation of how I was standing, how long I was there, what I was looking at, the time of day; this told a story that I was giving them but no one was tracking,” says Scanlin.

It did not take long for a solution to come. Scanlin set to work developing the first version of what's now known as the SoleSensor, a smart floor sensor that measures 100% of foot traffic in physical spaces, and also tracks behaviors such as dwell time, turnover, and patience rates. Scanlin states, “our tools help businesses understand key points such as how long someone was standing in front of a product, and how that relates to their level of interest in purchasing it.”
